Composting Introduction Letter

Compost Container

Dear Composting Friend,

If you would like to participate in the Sturtevant Food Composting Program, please fill out a registration form in this printable packet or obtain a copy of the form at the Sturtevant Village Hall, 2801 89th St. Once you turn in your registration paperwork and pay the $25 fee, you are ready to begin collecting your food waste. Just scrape your dishes into a reusable collection container instead of into your trash can or down the drain. Food scraps can be collected in a reusable container in your home or in a paper bag – paper grocery bags or paper lunch bags work well. Once your container is full, take it to the green pickup bin that is located in the parking lot at the Sturtevant Village Hall and dump it into the bin. Paper bags used to collect food waste can be put into the bin, but NO PLASTIC bags.

Look for the bin with the Compost Crusaders logo on it. Now you are making a difference! Congratulations and Thank You! The higher the volume of food scraps (weight) we collect from our participants the more successful our program will become. The goal is to have so many participating that we eventually have curbside pickup. We are the first community in the Racine area making a change in our habits to make a difference for our future.

Again, thank you!
