2008 CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS




90TH STREET & MT. PLEASANT AVENUE (CITY OF RACINE WATER MAIN PROJECT)

  • Contractor began work late and it is now scheduled to be completed by late September
  • Sanitary Sewer repairs and lining are now completed. Work will begin on Mount Pleasant Avenue during the first week of September
  • Garbage pick-up and mail delivery will not be affected.

DURAND AVENUE (HWY 11)(WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PROJECT)

  • Construction began on August 11, 2008 and is scheduled to be completed by October 4, 2008, and is on schedule, from 91st Street west to 99th Street.
  • Northside lanes on Durand Avenue should be completed by Friday, August 29, 2008.
  • Construction on the southside lanes of Durand Avenue will begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.
  • Garbage - For residential homes on the southside of Durand Avenue, homeowners will need to take waste receptacle and recycling bins to the nearest side street for pick-up.
  • Mail delivery will not be affected.
  • Questions regarding this project should be directed to Mike Sossaman, Project Manager, at (262) 886-6226.

VILLAGE OF STURTEVANT COMPOST SITE

The Village of Sturtevant compost site is now open.

NOTE CHANGE IN TIME Mondays & Wednesdays from 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM for village residents only. Will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2008 for Labor Day.

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS 1907-2007

The Village was incorporated approximately 100 years ago and is located in eastern Racine County. Access to the Village can be obtained either from State Hwy 20 or State Hwy 11 from I-94 - about 2 miles from I -94. Being located approximately 30 minutes from the Milwaukee area (Mitchell Field) and 60 minutes from the Chicago land area (O'Hare) the Village provides an excellent location to these major metropolitan areas.
