What's New
From Sturtevant
NEW BUSINESSES
This past year has been a busy year for economic development in the Village. This development not only brings in new job opportunities but also creates a stronger tax base for the community. Last year we saw Subway, Marble Slab Creamery, Snap Fitness, Bogo Wireless, Urban Trends Hair Salon and Dinner by Design move into the mall across the parking lot from the Marcus Theaters. Across STH 20, you will find the new JDI warehouse as well as the new location for Grand Appliance. Further south, the old Intermet building on 90th Street has found new life as the location for Angel Lithograph and R&B Grinding. Durand Avenue has also seen development as Captain Ron’s Skateboard Park and Fountain Hall Banquet Hall have moved in just west of Farm and Fleet. A few doors down, on Durand, an ugly blue building is being renovated into a beautiful home for Cedar Products which manufactures and sells cedar furniture. Two new restaurants have opened on Durand. They are Big Shorties Pizza and La Iguana Loco.
We would like to welcome these businesses to Sturtevant and we hope that residents check them out and support Sturtevant businesses. We would also like to extend a welcome to Johnson Wax which will be moving some of its operations to Sturtevant as they move into a brand new 432,000 sq. ft. distribution center south of Renaissance Park in late 2008.
